Have you noticed how a woman’s mind seems to always have a lot going on all at the same time while a man tends to focus on one task at a time? Women appear to multitask much more easily. Men to be better at focusing on a certain task and getting the job done, prior to moving onto a new one. In this article, we are going to help make it easy to understand what the gender brain differences are. I will be explaining the differences in the brain connectivity of both genders, and how this affect the way they can manage tasks.
Gender Brain Connectivity
There are more nerves connecting the brain’s right and left hemispheres in women’s brains. This makes it easier for her to multitask. Her brain has been hard wired to remember, plan, feel, listen, think and talk all at the same time. On the other hand, there is 25% less connectivity within the corpus collosum in men’s brains, which is the link that makes it possible for there to be cross-talk between the right and left hemispheres. That optimizes a man’s brain to be able to focus on a specific task, and block out other distractions from life.
The One-Task Man
Given that there is less connectivity between a man’s brain hemispheres, it means he will be less inclined to feel, talk and have the ability to articulate both of these at once. Men are more likely to focus on one task; and at times forget about everything else. Also, men tend to separate their thoughts and feelings into different parts of their brain.
For instance, a man dearly loves his wife. That is how he feels. However, his task is finding a job so that he can provide for his family. Therefore the job hunt is what he is focused on, along with networking, classifieds and resumes. He has a tendency to ignore that his wife needs his attention and to feel emotionally supported and loved. It isn’t that he doesn’t love her or want to listen to what happened to her that day. It is just that his brain has been hired wired on focusing on one task, which is finding a job.
The Multitasking Woman
The connectivity that a woman possesses is like a gigantic busy, multi-directional freeway that buzzes along. Possessing more connectivity between the two hemispheres in her brain allows her to feel emotions, to think, and connect with them a lot more easily. She can articulate her thoughts quickly and have many thoughts and feelings that are processing at the same time. That is one reason women often feel more overwhelmed compared to most men. It is also why he tends to think she is blowing things way out of proportion.
For instance, a woman needs to talk about her stressful day. Once she gets to the third thing or so, her husband feels the need to interrupt her and suggest how the problem can be solved. That is the difference in how the two gender’s brains are hard wired. She just wants to be able to talk and discuss things. Talking them through increases her serotonin and helps her focus and solve problems. He has been hard wired to quickly solve them and them move on. The man’s brain isn’t thinking as many different thoughts as the woman’s is, and she can’t help but listen, help, plan, talk, feel and think all at the same time.
